I found this while browsing eBay for old watches, and the words Art Deco, mechanical, and parts or repair make a very specific kind of invitation. It may be a project, a display piece, or a donor of tiny beautiful machinery.
I find that amusing because a non-perfect watch can still be deeply watch-like. It still carries the promise of precision, even if its current job is simply to look excellent in a tray.
Why it caught my eye: pocket watches make time feel less abstract and more like something with a lid.
Best for: watch tinkerers, assemblage artists, prop drawers, and collectors who enjoy objects with unresolved chapters.
